Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir is a student-led group of 12 that rehearses weekly on a five-octave set of Schulmerich handbells. Repertoire consists of arrangements and original compositions, mostly of secular or seasonal holiday music. The choir participates in the annual Service of Lessons and Carols, along with the Concert Choir and the Chamber Choir, and performs in studio recitals and at various off-campus locations.

The group is advised by Marjorie Hirsch.

Every few years, a Winter Study course is offered on handbells. Students meet daily for the month of January, rehearsing two hours each day and performing at the end of the term. Each student creates his or her own arrangement of a favorite piece of music that is read and, in some cases, performed by the ensemble.
