Opera Workshop

The Williams Opera Workshop pairs student singers, instrumentalists, and dancers with young professionals to prepare and perform a fully staged opera accompanied by orchestra. This group offers singers the opportunity to further develop skills in stage acting, character development, and the incorporation of foreign language while working as part of an ensemble.

The workshop culminates in performances in late January. Acceptance into the workshop is by audition only, with individual auditions taking place in mid October.

There are many ways to participate in the project. In addition to featured roles and playing in the pit we are always in need of a robust opera chorus and an ensemble of comprimario performers, dancers, actors, stage crew, and set and costume designers. Our goal is always to bring together a multidisciplinary troupe of artists to simulate the workings of an actual opera house.

The Williams Opera Workshop, founded in 2014, is under the direction of Artist Associates Erin Casey and Paul La Rosa.
