The Williams College Department of Music will present a vocal recital featuring Lauren Glaves '11 on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. in Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall on the Williams College campus. This free event is open to the public.
In a concert sure to delight opera buffs and vocal fans alike, Lauren Glaves presents a program filled with great arias of the 19th century. One exception to this timeframe is the much beloved aria, “O mio babbino caro” from Gianni Schicchi by Puccini. This is a technicality perhaps, as this piece fits in wonderfully with the rest of the program that includes a work of Parisotti, “Se tu m’ami” and one by Verdi, “Volta la terrea” from Un Ballo in Maschera. The rest of the program is devoted to pieces by other Italian masters of bel canto.
Ms. Glaves performs works by Bellini, among them, “Ma rendi pur contento.” The music of Donizetti is also a major feature, including “Amiamo.” Lovers of Rossini can also look forward to “La Promessa,” as well as other works of the ever popular composer.
Ms. Glaves will be accompanied by Lauren McDonald '12.
