John Menegon

Title:
Studio Instructor of Bass

John Menegon is a member of the great tenor saxophonist David FATHEAD Newman's quartet, and has been playing and recording with the legendary tenor player Dewey Redman for the past five years. Since moving to the U.S. from Montreal, John has performed/recorded with Kenny Barron, Bruce Barth, Paul Bley, Anthony Braxton's Tri-Centric Orchestra, Nick Brignola, Kenny Burrell, Jay Clayton, Jimmy Cobb, Jack DeJohnette, Al Foster, Slide Hampton, Sheila Jordan, Lee Konitz, J.R. Monterose, Adam Nussbaum, Francesca Tanksley, Pete Yellin, and many others.

He recently debuted his all new jazz sextet with singers Teri Roiger, Sarah James and Judi Silvano, and the rhythm section of John DiMartino on piano, Bob Meyers on drums, and John Menegon on bass, playing an evening of his vocal compositions. He also has been writing music for two horns, bass and drums and has been playing these works in his new group called Ologon.

Menegon has been working with the renowned vocalist Teri Roiger for the past ten years, and they have recorded a CD Misterioso with jazz legends Jack DeJohnette and Kenny Burrell, on which some of John's originals are featured. A quote from Vic Garbarini of PLAYBOY magazine: Compositions by bassist John Menegon are inspired to create some of the most exquisite music on the CD entitled Misterioso featuring Jack DeJohnette on drums, Kenny Burrell on guitar, along with vocalist Teri Roiger.
