

Tom Bergeron has performed across North America, Europe, and Asia with orchestras, chamber groups, jazz groups, show bands, as a soloist, and can be heard on the Naxos and Koch record labels. He is a sought after teacher and clinician across the Northeast. In addition to his work at Williams, he is the Brass Instructor at Bennington College and Assistant to the Director of the Jazz Ensemble at Yale University. Mr. Bergeron holds a B.A. in Business Management from The Isenberg School at the University of Massachusetts and an M.M. in Trumpet Performance from the Yale School of Music. He is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at Yale where he studies with recording artist Allan Dean and serves as a T.A., teaching Yale College trumpet students. Mr. Bergeron is principal trumpet with the Berkshire Symphony, second trumpet with Opera North, and plays regularly with the Vermont Symphony and Springfield Symphony. He has appeared as a soloist with the Hartford Symphony, has recorded with the Albany Symphony and Schola Cantorum, and has performed with The Smothers Brothers, Arlo Guthrie, Orchestra New England, the New Hampshire Symphony, The New Haven Symphony, The Yale Philharmonia, and Emmanuel Music in Boston. Tom also plays lead and solo trumpet for Carnival Cruise Lines and Norwegian Cruise Lines seasonally, is a composer, arranger, and manager for Pearl City, a contemporary jazz group, plays with salsa bands Mikata and Sonido Unidad and the pop group The Prescription, and is a member of the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra with Brother Jocephus in New York City. Tom has played and toured with the University of Massachusetts Faculty Brass Quintet, served as Director of Winds at the Hartsbrook School, and was a trumpet teacher and brass clinician at Amherst College and Deerfield Academy. Tom is currently commissioning a Trumpet Concerto by Jay Wadley. It will be premiered by the Yale Concert Band and the Williams College Symphonic Winds in February of 2009. Tom has also performed and toured with the renowned Triton Brass Quintet, most recently as a part of their educational residency in South Bend, Indiana for the Fischoff Foundation. While at Yale, Tom created the "Music and Creative Writing" outreach program in New Haven's public school system. During regular visits to inner-city schools, Tom encouraged students to write musically inspired stories and then incorporated their writings into his jazz compositions.
