Sebastian gave his first solo recital at the age of six, and played his first solo with orchestra at age seven. A recent winner of the Boston Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, he has received numerous other awards, including first place in the 2002-2003 and 2000-2001 New England Conservatory Preparatory School Concerto Competitions, the International Young Virtuoso Competition of 2001-2002 giving a performance at Carnegie Hall, and the New England Chamber Music Foundation Award in 2004. He has soloed with many orchestras, appeared twice on . From The Top on National Public Radio, on international broadcasts of Voice of America, and in a nationally televised commercial for Bose speakers. He has also appeared as the 2005 featured young artist of the Williamstown Chamber Concerts, performed at the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, the Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland, the Presidents Night at the Boston Pops Gala, the ASCAP awards at Lincoln Center, the Fête nationale de la musique in France, and many other venues. He grew up performing extensively in the U.S. and Europe with the Bäverstam Chamber Players. Last spring Sebastian performed Bloch's Schelomo with the Albany Symphony Orchestra and toured Venezuela and Brazil with the New England Conservatory Youth Philharmonic as co-principal cellist and as the soloist in Richard Strauss's Don Quixote. Later in the summer he performed the Dvorak Cello Concerto in Kiev with the Chernihov Symphony Orchestra, and he performed the Schumann Cello Concerto with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra. Sebastian has twice been a semifinalist at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Sebastian is currently a student of Ronald Feldman and Andrew Pearce. He has also studied
with Andrés Díaz and Yeesun Kim.
