Williams Opera – Cosi fan tutte
Williams Opera, a student-based opera ensemble at Williams College, presents selections from the first act of Cosi fan tutte. Written by Mozart in 1790, this comedic opera follows two soldiers who make a bet with a local don that their fiancees will remain faithful to them if they go to war. After staging a fake departure, the two soldiers return in disguise and attempt to woo each other’s fiancees with the help of the don and a chambermaid. Though initially outraged, the women begin to warm to the men as they pretend to take poison after being rejected. A full length concert version of Act One will take place later in the semester.
Williams Opera is led by students Richard McDowell ’09, Augusta Caso ’09, and Eric Kang ‘09. The ensemble includes McDowell, Caso, Erin Casey, Yanie Fecu ’10, Andy Truex, and Keith Kibler and the orchestra is conducted by Eric Kang ‘09.
