Maki Matsui was born in Tokyo, Japan. She came to the United States part-way through middle school and graduated from Mt. Greylock High School, Williamstown. She is now a senior English major at Williams College. After taking two semesters of vocal instructions from Erin Casey, she attended the Resonanz Albany Singer Intensive Festival (2009) where she was found to be insecure and homesick. Upon her return to Williams, she was rescued by Keith Kibler, with whom she has studied this academic year. She thinks she may, with God’s help, eventually move on to a music school where she can pursue a performance degree and her volcanic passion for Mozart.
