Senior Recital
Olufolajimi Oke ’10, guitar

The Williams College Department of Music will present a Senior Recital featuring guitarist Olufolajimi Oke ’10 on Saturday, May 15, at 2 p.m. in Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall on the Williams College campus. This free event is open to the public.

Oke will be playing music by Antonio Laura, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Johann Sebastian Bach, Francisco Tárrega, and Fernando Sor.

Olufolajimi [Jimi] Oke hails from Ibadan, Nigeria, and will be completing majors in physics and music this year. Jimi has received the phenomenal guitar instruction of Robert Phelps since the spring of his sophomore year. He also studied jazz bass with John Menegon and played in a combo for five semesters. An active bassist and pianist at First Baptist Church of Williamstown, Gospel Choir, and Williams Christian Fellowship, Jimi is enormously indebted to the wonderful colleagues and friends, amazing professors, and patient mentors who have influenced him as a student at Williams. He is grateful for the opportunities afforded him by the Music Department. In particular, he would like to thank Andy Jaffe and M. Jennifer Bloxam, whose strong encouragement inspired him to musical excellence. Finally, he would like to thank his family for the huge sacrifices they have made, and ultimately credits the Source of all his musical abilities.
