Williams Vocal Jazz Ensemble

Yet another way that Williams makes jazz!

Featuring solo and group performances by young jazz vocalists on Dec. 8 the Williams Vocal Jazz Ensemble directed by Laura Pierce performs arrangements in the style of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross and the New York Voices, as well as innovative arrangements of their own. Spontaneously improvised scat-singing solos bring vitality and excitement to each performance. The singers: Heidi Chen ’14, Banyi Huang ’15, Kimberly Liu ’13, Chie Togami ’13, Isabel Hanson ’16, Daniel Potter ’16 and Inez Tan ’12, are joined by Ben Kohn on piano and Max Dietrich ’16 on baritone saxophone. The performance features classic jazz tunes from the Great American Songbook: Tuxedo Junction, Choo Choo Ch’Boogie, My Funny Valentine and I Got Rhythm.
