gs-harbison-portraitIf you couldn’t make it to our April 9 event featuring composer John Harbison, you can now enjoy a video recording of the entire evening.

Harbison, together with a panel of the poets who inspired him, and music department Chair W. Anthony Sheppard discuss the process of setting poetry to music. The panel is composed of Jessica Fisher, assistant professor of English at Williams; Louise Glück, adjunct professor of English and Rosenkranz Writer-in-Residence at Yale University; and poet and Pulitzer Prize winning critic Lloyd Schwartz, whose recitations can also be enjoyed in the performance.

The full length performance includes John Harbison’s The Right to Pleasure, North and South, Montale Sketches, and Seven Ages.

The concert features Lynn Torgrove, mezzo-soprano; Gabriela Diaz, violin; David Russel, cello; Christopher Krueger, flute; Rane Moore, clarinet; Craig McNutt, percussion; and pianist Judith Gordon.
